Keep reading below to find out everything you need to know about RSF.
What does Red Shirt Friday mean?
Every Friday, people come together to appreciate the sacrifices our veterans and active duty service members make on a daily basis. The idea is simple: people wear red shirts on Fridays to show their support for the troops.
But, why RED shirts? R.E.D. is an acronym that originally stands for Remember Everyone Deployed and was created to remind people of our heroes overseas and show that we are thinking of them. Our organization made a minor shift in the meaning to stand for Respect Everyone Deployed, while still maintaining the same goal of supporting our troops and veterans.
Get involved!
If you want to get involved in Red Shirt Friday, all you have to do is wear a red shirt every Friday! Help spread the word by posting a picture of yourself in your red shirt on social media, using the hashtag #RedShirtFriday!
Wearing a red shirt on Friday is just the beginning. You can also get involved by spreading awareness about RSF, supporting military families in your community, and donating to this great cause. For example, you can participate in RSF by volunteering at veteran outreach programs in your area. Many organizations host events throughout the year that offer assistance with housing, education, job readiness, and other important resources for veterans.
That said, one of the best ways to support the troops is to make your voice heard on issues that affect our veterans and active service members. This includes advocating for better healthcare for veterans and supporting policies that will help to ensure that our troops have the resources they need to stay safe and protect our country.
Additionally, it is important to educate yourself on the challenges veterans and service members face daily — both mental and physical — and therefore help in providing them with the support they need.
